OK...so who's going to any of the December MKB shows?

Can't make the SF gig, so I'm making the drive north to the Emerald Triangle to see them in Arcata. I've lived in California for 33 years and I've never been there, so I guess it'll be "an experience".

I have to admit, the SF show is a bit of a put-off at Biscuits & Blues; I don't like the early/late show with the reserved tables. Yeah, the Potato does it too, but that's the Potato. I quite liked the Boom Boom Room gig MKB did in 2005 (Japantown rules); shame it didn't work out for repeated bookings. I would "man up" for the SF show and go anyway, but schedule issues abound.

Yeah, y'know what? NOT going. To the Potato. I've maybe missed TWO 'tater shows in the last 13 years. And I'm not going.

Why? Cuz screw that guy, that's why. I'd rather miss the show than pay for the one set I can afford, sitting there all pissed off that I'm going to miss the other set.

What if I want to do two sets? (I DO) Let's do the math; math is fun:

2 tickets x 2 people (me and the mrs.) x 2 shows = $104.00. Fine. It's Mike.

2 drink minimum x 2 people x 2 shows = $60-$80.00 And really, that's basically a sponsored DUI on a Friday night around Universal.

Had to come early to get around the reserved tables, so add 2 of the cheaper potatoes and sales tax, you're over $200.00. And drunk.

Maybe you decide not to drink that much, they hand you $8.00 plastic bottles of water with Baked Potato stickers on them to get you up to your minimum.

Screw that guy.

Overall, 2 shows is good for Mike and the Boys - it's more money - LOVE that for them. More drinks mean more $$ too.

But Mike is more popular now, and it's a Friday, so Justin is going to mine the loyal fan-base by double-charging for ONE SHOW THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN TWO BLISTERING SETS.

Screw that guy.
