I don't know how many people here are into Bryan Beller's side project trio, the Aristocrats (or, for that matter, how many people are actually here - hello, is this thing on?), but I recently purchased their new album, "Tres Caballeros," and it rocks mightily. I'm not familiar with their first two studio albums, but Ben Guerard told me that this is a huge step forward for them. Amazing musicianship, just a terrific album. A million thumbs up.

They're also touring this summer: http://the-aristocrats-band.com/shows/. I already bought my ticket for the Cambridge show.

Oh, you're going to love them live. When I saw them on their last tour, it was obvious that they were having the time of their lives on stage, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again on this tour.

And I agree about the album - it's awesome. A much more diverse bunch of tunes than their earlier (and great!) albums. I can't recommend them enough.

Oh sure, The Aristocrats can make it out to the East Coast. ;)

Cambridge is so close...and a Friday night...very tempting.

You know, I find the fact that you're calling The Aristocrats a side project interesting. With a touring schedule that extends all the way to January, it seems like a full time commitment...

Good point. Which begs the question: what *is* Beller's full-time gig?

My ears are currently confirming this as I type. Though it's difficult to type with my legs doing the bouncy dance under the desk. Damn, this is a very fine album indeed!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit the Cambridge show. I have to keep an eye on the concert budget, y'know. After skipping Rush and Steely Dan due to fucking *obscene* ticket prices, it's nice to know you can still catch a sub-$50 show now and then. This and the Toad The Wet Sprocket tour ought to keep me happy for a month or two.

Tickets for Cambridge are officially purchased. So who's going apart from me and Chris? Do we even have any other New Englanders around here anymore?

I can ask Mike Gaito via Facebook - he's usually up for Boston-area Keneally shows, so he may catch this one.

To say that is to do a disservice to their earlier work by intimating
that it's anything short of excellent. This one does somehow manage to
be even better, perhaps, but you shouldn't miss out on their earlier
works. Listen to Culture Clash and see what I mean.

I've come to the conclusion that Marco Minnemann doesn't exist. If he
did, it would mean that what he plays would have to be humanly possible.

I just saw them tonight in SF. If they are playing anywhere remotely
near you, you have to go see them. I'd suggest getting Tres Caballeros
first and playing it a few times, because they did the whole thing live.
It's amazing how they can play like that and have so much fun doing so.
They can play off each other so well that it doesn't matter what one
throws at the others.

I went with my son, who didn't get the parts when they snuck in a few
riffs here and there that weren't part of the material, but it really
inspired him to play the guitar like Hendrix. He's been playing drums
about 1/3 of his life now, and took up the guitar a couple of months
ago. He figures he has a much better shot at being able to do a decent
job playing Hendrix than he ever has of being able to play drums like
Marco.
