Ever wondered just how many MK shows you've attended? I did. Good thing Antal's Tour Chronology exists. Fantastic resource. I honestly had to think a few times - did I really see this show or did I just listen to the tape a thousand times? Did I really not see any shows at all for six years?

Anyhoo, I'm going to leave this here so I can refer back to it if I feel like it some day. You know, the cloud and all that. Throw your own list into the thread if you're so inclined!

----------------
But first... Antal, I found a typo:

May 5 1996 – University Of Maine, Farmington MA

Should be ME, or Maine. Unless the University of Maine is in Massachusetts, which it's not.
----------------

So anyway...

April 12 1996 – Red Square North, Nashua NH
July 25 1998 – Rutland VT: Rhythm Alley Cafe
July 26 1998 – Burlington VT: Nectar’s
July 27 1998 – Boston MA: Berklee College of Music
August 11 1998 – Portsmouth NH: The Elvis Room
August 14 1998 – New York NY: The Bottom Line (with Ed Palermo’s Big Band)
August 15 1998 – Boston MA: Mama Kin / SWR clinic at E.U. Wurlitzer’s, Worcester MA
October 22 1998 – West Warwick RI: The Station
August 5 2000 – Nonkerstock 2000, San Diego CA
November 10 2000 – The Baked Potato, Hollywood CA
May 10 2001 – Johnny D’s, Somerville MA
May 11 2001 – The Met Cafe, Providence RI
May 25 2001 – The Iron Horse Music Hall, Northhampton, MA
May 26 2001 – The Bottom Line, New York, NY
November 14 2001 – Johnny D’s, Somerville, MA
November 15 2001 – Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton, MA
January 19 2002 – Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim CA
January 20 2002 – Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim CA
November 3 2003 – Northern Lights Music, Littleton, New Hampshire
September 28 2004 – Union Music, Worcester, MA
May 7 2010 – Regattabar at the Charles Hotel, Cambridge MA

That seems excessive. Maybe not. :)

I shall go backwardsly-chronological, because of reasons:

February 8 2012 – Iridium, New York NY
October 5, 6 & 7 2011 – The Iridium, New York NY [Only went to one of these, can't remember which night]
May 5 2010 – Lilly’s Pad at Toad’s Place, New Haven CT [My jaw dropped when they opened with "Kedgeree"!]
June 3 2006 – Coda, New York NY
September 27 2004 – Guitar Center, Manhattan, NY
November 17 2001 – The Bottom Line, New York, NY
November 16 2001 – The Bottom Line, New York, NY
May 26 2001 – The Bottom Line, New York, NY
May 25 2001 – The Iron Horse Music Hall, Northhampton, MA
May 12 2001 – The Bottom Line , New York NY
October 26 1998 – New York City NY: The Bottom Line (with Ed Palermo’s Big Band)
October 23 1998 – New York City NY: The Wetlands
August 14 1998 – New York NY: The Bottom Line (with Ed Palermo’s Big Band)
July 22 1998 – New York NY: Knitting Factory
April 18 1996 – The Bottom Line, New York City NY

It's entirely possible I wasn't actually at one of those Bottom Line shows in 1998, but I'm really not sure. 1998 was a fucking bazillion years ago.

November 7 2003 – Belle Air Music, London, Ontario, Canada
April 7 2007 – Museum of Making Music, Carlsbad CA
January 6 2011 - Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna, BC Canada (Satriani show)

In addition, sometime while I was working at Berkeley, MK posted on here that he was going to be doing an improv show with Henry Kaiser, Weasel Walter and (I forget the other guy) that evening in San Francisco, so I took the BART over there and attended that show - I couldn't find this on the chronology site. It may have been in early May of 2006 when the Albert Ayler tribute was being recorded? I remember telling Mike how much I loved Inhale and hoped it would show up on one of his CDs someday. The show was mostly all improv but I definitely recall Mike playing the opening chords of the title track off 'Wooden Smoke' before the drummer started playing something much heavier.

Found it - it was May 4 2006 and the other guy playing was Damon Smith.

Not on the Chronology? A Keneally gig that I missed? But... but... that means... incomplete... how did that happen?

So, that May 4 2006 gig. Do you have any info?

Gah! I'm an idiot. I thought I saw it someplace else. Here is the show I meant:

October 19 2002 – Great American Music Hall, San Francisco CA
A triple bill along with Palace Of Love (w/Henry Kaiser, Chris Cutler, Michael Manring, Mike Keneally, Chris Muir, Lukas Ligeti and Damon Smith) and Telepathy opening
personnel: MK, BB, RM, NDV
setlist:
tape:

I saw that and thought that it couldn't have been 11 years ago. But then I checked my travel records and... it was.

So. Very. Old.

My first MK show... 17 years ago. Jeezis. I had seen 18 MK shows before my oldest nephew was born. Nonkerstock 2000 was... umm... I don't know, math is hard.

So many ways to measure how decrepit we're coming. So how come I still feel like I'm 22 in my head? In work meetings I still feel like the kid in a room full of adults, even though I'm older than half of them. I still address people as "dude." People old enough to have children call me "sir" and it stings like a motherfucker every time. I hope to feel this way until the day my body finally decides to prove me wrong.

As heard on Ricky Gervais's fantastic series Derek...

"Fifty is the new forty. Sixty is the new fifty. Seventy is the new sixty!"
"What's eighty?"
"Eighty's still eighty. You're fucked."
"What about ninety?"
"Don't worry about it."

ron

ps...In the course of writing this post, I ended up re-discovering all sorts of Nonkerstock stuff on the Internet. I encourage you to check out the new thread I'm starting on that topic.

Whoa - without checking the master list to make sure about one of those,
I counted three shows that we were at together, yet you never called me
'Mother'.

Top of my head, I can think of 10 times I've seen Mike live - twice with
Satch, twice with Dethklok, four times as MK/MKBFD, and twice with
Zappa. There would have been another MKBFD and a Vai show - I was in
the building, but it was a work night, I was tired, and things were
running late - about 15-30 minutes before show time, they were just
starting soundcheck, so I bailed. Which is why I never made the inner
circle...

Strange. I could have SWORN I've seen more MK shows. Ah well.
