So yesterday started at the Washington State DMV. I finally got a certified copy of my Oregon birth certificate, which is the one thing I didn't have to get a Washington enhanced drivers licence, which acts like a passport when driving across the US border with Canada, which means I can drive to Vancouver or take a ferry to Victoria, which I've wanted to do for YEARS. So I think this is gonna be a great day.

Then, an utterly hellish day at work. The worst yet at my current position. Fecking horrid.

So I'm finally driving home on I-5 north out of Seattle (I live in Edmonds, about 10 miles north of downtown) and I see on the electronic traffic alert signs above the freeway that I-5 is CLOSED...

...at milepost 225. *whew*. That's many miles north of me, I'll be fine.

Then I get home, and I see this news

....that is I-5, that is the way one drives to Vancouver, about halfway between myself and the border. I finally get an enhanced licence that allows me to go there, and within hours God-or-whatever-the-fuck-you-want-to-call-it, neatly severs the fecking bridge into the Skagit River. I am taking this personally. I believe that if I hadn't got the enhanced licence that bridge would be standing today and no one would have been so horrifyingly dropped into the drink

(at last word, the people that were on the bridge when it fell are all ok, their cars, not so much)

Good thing you weren't off work that day, you'd have rode all the way to Canada screaming Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! and get back just in time to make it to work the next day, sans sleep.

Well, my dear Smeenus, I so hate to disappoint you, but the bridge
collapse had nothing to do with you. Seven minutes and 48 seconds
before the collapse, I tripped and fell in my living room. It just took
that much time for the shock wave to travel across the country.

You're forgetting to adjust for the three hour time zone difference. Allowing that, you tripped at the exact time I was given my enhanced licence. Both events were my fault.

But you're forgetting that I never forget to adjust for the three hour
time zone difference, so I had, in fact, taken that into account, just
like I do 110% of the time.

And you weren't responsible for my trip. That was not the acid you sent me.

Oh, on a related note, I went to Vancouver anyway and shot this from my car on the detour bridge

The musis was nothing more than a fortuitous bounce, as it were. I didn't plan that, my crazy iPod just decided to play it at that moment

Finally, the REAL evidence that you're evil. Never shoot tall, skinny video. Never.

That's the most innocuous example of evil I've ever seen.
